You're on a treasure hunt in a magical place called Cariboo Island.

You'll take turns matching letters, numbers, colors, and shapes to unlock doors and hunt for treasure. As you find treasure balls, place them in the tumbling tidepool.

Once you've found the last treasure, the special Cariboo treasure chest will pop open, and it'll be time to play again.

Components

Cariboo Beginner

Object of the Game

Setup

1. Make sure the doors and treasure chest are closed.

2. Drop all six balls in the secret tunnels. (Give the game board a little jiggle to make sure they are well hidden).

3. Place the Beginner cards face down in a pile.

4. Give the key to the youngest player, who will go first.

Game Play

1. Draw a card to start your turn.

   This game has four types of cards:

   • 
     

     Match a letter card to the first letter of the word on a door.

   • 
     

     Match a number card to the number of things on a door

   • 
     
     

     Match a color card to the color of things on a door.

   • 
     
     

     Match a shape card to the shape of things on a door.

2. Find one door that matches your card, then open it with the key. If you can't find a door that matches your card, it's the next player's turn.

   
   
   

3. If you find a treasure ball, drop it into the tumbling tidepool.

   
   
   

4. Pass the key to the player on your left.

Advanced Rules

Can you match all of the letters, numbers, and shapes in the original Cariboo game? Are you ready for more matching challenges? Then you're ready for Cariboo Advanced!

Setup

1. To switch to the Advanced door cards, open each door with the key, then remove the card by pushing it up from the hole underneath the door.

   
   
   

2. Flip the card over so the new word and illustration are showing.

   
   
   

3. Slide the card back into the slot on top of the door.

   
   
   

4. Set out the Advanced cards. (Don't forget to put away the Beginner cards so they don't get mixed up!)

   
   
   

5. Drop all six balls into the secret tunnels.
